In celebration of its “healing waters,” Berkeley Springs hosted its Renewal Festival at the Morgan Arts Council’s Ice House on Saturday, Jan. 22. In this open-to-the-public event, attendees were invited to participate in wellness events and lectures covering holistic health practices that included yoga, meditation, pain relief, acupuncture, and more. Local artists also provided demonstrations of their skills with their pieces for sale at the event.
Surrounding merchants participated by offering those in attendance specials on bath bombs, handmade soaps, body lotions, beard tonics, cookware, vintage medicine bottles, and more. Local restaurants offered their everyday healthy food choices, including plant-based and gluten-free offerings.
Two local spas – Healing Waters Spa and the Berkeley Springs State Park Spa – were another hit at the Renewal Festival, with the most popular service being the Paraffin Wax Treatment: a wax application that softens the skin and can help with blood circulation. Several attendees made additional appointments with the spa for future services.
“The Renewal Festival was a success. Many people enjoyed the event and want to come back to Berkeley Springs soon,” said Stephanie Rebant, president of Travel Berkeley Springs. “We’re looking forward to bringing the festival back next year.”
Overall, the Berkeley Springs Renewal Festival was a great way to relax and rejuvenate while surrounded by the natural beauty of Berkeley Springs.
