There’s an old saying that professes, “You’ve got to start somewhere.”
Keeping that adage in mind, we’re happy to learn that the Lake County Treasurer’s Office and Lake County commissioners have announced the initial meeting of the Lake County Business Roundtable Discussion Series.
The event is slated for 8 a.m. Feb. 23 in the Lake Erie Conference Room of the Lake County Administration Center, Building A, located at 105 Main St. in Painesville. Attendance is limited to representatives of 20 businesses.

According to officials, the discussion will serve as an open forum for local businesses to share experiences over the last 18 months and to provide opinions on improving the local business environment.
“There is tremendous value as an elected official to listen to local business owners regarding their ideas and strategies,” said Treasurer Mike Zuren. “I’m looking forward to this meeting.”
Topics will include workforce, resource collaboration, supply-chain concerns and overall economic conditions. The meeting also will focus on listening to the needs and concerns of the private sector as it relates to the novel coronavirus pandemic and potential assistance from the county.
“As a small-business owner, I can appreciate the challenges presented by the pandemic and look forward to proactively working with our local businesses,” said Commissioner John Hamercheck.
In addition to the commissioners, representatives from various county agencies will be in attendance.
“Treasurer Zuren, along with the commissioners, are dedicated to creating a business-friendly environment in Lake County, and private sector input is critical to accomplish this goal,” Commissioner John Plecnik said.
Commissioner Ron Young added, “One of our primary responsibilities is to listen to the needs of our constituents and that is what I intend to do at the first meeting.”
