LaGuardia’s Terminal B is open for business, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday.
The completed construction is part of the airport’s $4 billion transformation, including most recently its western skybridge, following the opening of the terminal’s second concourse in December.
The airport’s central terminal features new gates, expansive concourses and art, restaurants and other amenities. Officials say LaGuardia is the first airport in the world with dual pedestrian skybridges.
“Let’s go to an independent source who judges airports around the globe, UNESCO, just awarded this airport, the 2021 pre-Versailles global architecture and design award for the new best airport in the world,” Hochul said.
Earlier Thursday, Hochul stood with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton and LaGuardia Gateway Partners CEO Frank Scremin to celebrate the completion of the terminal’s new facilities.
